You Can Be My Housewife

This hottie here is Mr. Jay Brannan, and I want to have his babies.  I first heard him when a friend sent me his Houswife video.  My dream one day is to be a housewife, circa 1950's.  He is also in an amazing film that I saw this summer called Shortbus.  It is a beautiful film about sexuality that blurs the line between art and pornography.  It was created by John Cameron Mitchell, the same guy who brought us the cult classic Hedwig and the Angry Inch.  The film went to the Cannes Film Festival in 2006.  If you aren't opposed to nudity and a little/lots of sex, then you should watch this movie.  If you are, then stick to the Disney Princesses.

Hump me...I mean...Hump Day?

Concept animation projection on building from NuFormer Projection on Vimeo.

Wednesday...oh hump days.  My feet are exhausted from strutting the past few days.  Can't we just get a holiday during the middle of the week?  Some time to get a facial, and a nice pool boy to rub our bunions?  Since none of those dreams will come true today, I am going to treat you to a visual and audio vacation.  The video above is a projection onto a building.  It has not been retouched, like Kim Kardashian always is.  To check out more videos click this hoes.  For your auditory enjoyment today, here is a link that I StumbleUpon(ed) the other day.  It is a music and spoken word project where YOU get to create the music.  Have fun pressing play!

Priscilla Queen of...BROADWAY

Guess what ladies!?!  Priscilla Queen of the Desert is coming to Broadway!  Hot damn!  I think I shall dawn my lady shoes for this one.  The movie was first put on stage in London and is now making the oceanic jump to NYC.  If you have not seen the movie, then 1. you do not deserve the right to ever wear heels, and 2.  It is about two drag queens and a tranny from Sydney, Australia who decide to take their show to the desert.  They hop on a bus and start the journey.  The costumes for this show look incredible!  The show officially opens March 20, 2011.  Previews start February 28, 2011.  And it is in the lovely Palace Theatre.  Check out the video and have a glamorous day.

adDICKted to shoes

Girl, do I love me some shoes.  And these shoes are unlike any other shoes this ginger has ever seen.  I 'bout stripped all my clothes off when I saw them.  This instillation was done by the Dutch duo Lernert and Sander.  Their inspiration for this particular installment was drawn from taking ordinary household objects, i.e. a dishwasher and washing machine, and turning it into a shoe.  I would love to see Gaga wear a pair of dishwashers to her next award show.  These two attractive men, might I add, are also contributors for the Gay magazine Butt Magazine.  They have also created a poster for a film that was entered into the Amsterdam Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.  The posters they created are homolarious!  Check out their work!

Substance

This video from one of my favorite sites, TED.com, excited the little girl inside of me.  My inner glitz pageant girl felt she had won grand supreme at nationals.  Ben Cameron, the program director for the Doris Duke Foundation, talks about the need of substance in the performing arts in order to combat the technological world.  And I could not agree with him more.  So put on a nice facial mask and watch this video.

I Am the GingerQueer

Just to dispel all rumors, yes I have a fire crotch. Now to the serious business. I am a queer artist. My mission is to create art that speaks to the LGBT community. I find the art world to be one of the most inspiring environments. People from all different backgrounds and beliefs can come together in one room, be it a studio or a theater, and be in peace--except if you are dressed poorly, then i will judge you. In these blogs, I will be providing you with cultural information as it pertains to this queer's world, and hopefully yours as well. There is an abundant amount of gay art in this world; we dominate the art world in general. Well, we dominate any industry that produces anything attractive really.

Now, how did I get here? Hmmm, lets see...from a vagina. But the more critical discovery in my life was my love of theatre. I made my stage debut as a pilgrim, with a solo i might add, in my 3rd grade Thanksgiving play. In 6th grade, I decided I was destined for stardom, and little did i know, gaydom. I have been studying acting for many years now. I have spent a lot of time in my wet dream of a place, New York City. I spent the past year hosting a local event called Guerrilla Theatre. I saw an opportunity to speak openly about my sexuality, with much reserve, and found a lot of support from the local gay community. Now that that is over for me, the blond queen that is CampusQueer approached me and asked me if I would help him expand his blog. Well, I wet myself, then got pissed that I ruined my Rock and Republics, and then I said yes. I will be typing from the computer lab in Rowand Johnson Hall, RoJo for short. So thus begins my journey of sharing the wonderful world of gay.
