I Can't Believe Its Not...Human

Silicon is no longer just for implants.  The above sculptures are made out of silicon.  They are done by an artist in Australia named Sam Jinks.  He tries to make sculptures that are hyper-realistic, and he has nailed it!  When I first saw his work online, I thought they were just pictures of people against a white background.  But then I kept reading and I almost shat myself!

Hand Job

Damn, that has got to hurt.  If Irish Dance could ever be part of pop culture, this is it.  And I think it has arrived. No longer will you see young girls in curly hair pieces with emerald green velvet dresses on and awful socks.  Now you will see chic people, the way everything should be done, chicly.  The two people performing are Suzanne Cleary and Pete Harding.  Get this, they were in Riverdance together!

He Looks Like a Sugar Daddy

Bedtime Stories with Abraham Willosby from Joseph Bennett on Vimeo.

That there looks like a sugar daddy to me.  One with men on segways and tigers, and did I mention men?  This cartoon is done by a young man named Joseph Bennett.  His work is quite odd, blunt, and hilarious, much like some of the flame dames in our lives.  Hope you enjoy this quirky cartoon.

So Sweet

Thought of You from Ryan J Woodward on Vimeo.

This is just sweet.  Sweet like a sugar cookie.  Sweet like a nice pair of pink shoes, or pink lace underwear, or anything pink...except pigs.  They're not very sweet looking, unless they are one of those baby pot belly pigs that is the size of a gallon of milk.  But all that is beside the point.  This movie is so sweet.

A Tasteful Rainbow

These artworks are done by Gabriel Dawe.  The first are done only in thread and they create the most tasteful rainbow I have ever seen.  Might I say it is more tasteful than the original.  The shoes are part of an exhibit he did called "Don't Ask Don't Tell" as a political response.  His artwork is powerful and very gay oriented.  He is a gem!  A little big about the man behind the thread:  He was born in Mexico City where he found a desire to work in textiles. However, this was not a man's occupation.  Because of this taboo stigma, his work deals a lot with issues of masculinity.  He moved to Canada in 2000 and gained citizenship there and is now getting his MFA at the University of Texas in Dallas.  I just adore his work.

It's a Wonderful Life

Looking for something to do this weekend?  Well, ladies and ladies, you should skip on down to Theatre Tuscaloosa on Shelton States campus and see "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry.  If you enjoyed Lindsay Lohan's performance in "A Prairie Home Companion," well then you will enjoy this play.  No, not because there are coke addicts but because it is a live radio play.  It is running tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 PM and Sunday at 2PM.  Tickets are $17 for adults,  $14 for seniors, and $10 for students and children.  Oh, and you will get to see those red shoes, worn by the lovely Lisa Waldrop.  What queen wouldn't bend over backwards for those?  Actually, don't answer that...

Put Your Dancin Shoes On

"Some men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can."- Martha Graham

Dance is something that I find to be very releasing.  When I have a stressful day, I often put Celine Dion on, or maybe some Katy Perry, and I dance.  Very poorly might I add, but it is pretty damn expressive.  You should try it sometime.  I recommend dancing to any of the performers from the Divas Live concert on VH1.  They really make it happen

All Bow Down to LIZA

For those gays out there who aren't properly educated with Liza Minnelli  past her recent appearance in Sex and the City 2, here are instructions on how to spell her name.  This is her in her hay-day and girl can she rock a low cut v neck shirt better than any hipster can.

Wave

Maker Profile - Kinetic Wave Sculptures on MAKE: television from make magazine on Vimeo.

This is fascinating and lovely and entertaining.  It makes me want to put on a pair of really tight, really short swimming trunks, probably navy blue:  they would look best against my fair skin.  And then I want a margarita and some clear Bahama water with those sting rays that don't sting swimming around me.  If only.  Instead, I will opt for a day dream.  Anyway, this here is Reuben Margolin.  He is a kinetic sculptor and pretty damn good at it.  I found this video and had to share it immediately.

Shine on Bitches!

Here is a little inspiration for this lovely Wednesday.  Its pretty cold and dreary here in the heart of Alabama.  I am cramming for one last final examination and then its off to a four weeks of glitter, wrapping paper, bows, and a happy holigays.

Paper Dress

My dad once told me how my grandmother made my aunt's prom dress out of paper.  I found that absolutely incredible and kind of wanted to know how I could make one myself.  Well, I never really learned.  But I came across a vintage paper dress in the costume shop I work in one day.  If only I could have tried it on.  I would have paired it with some nice chunky plastic vintage jewelry and black pumps, per the usual.  I came across these pieces of artwork done in paper by Peter Callesen.  They are absolutely incredible and they blow my mind.  They make me want to make paper snowflakes.  But I always end up covering them in glitter and getting glitter everywhere, which isn't a problem to me, but it is to most everyone else.  What does a gay have to do to play with glitter?  Clearly, they have to buy a can of body glitter for the gay club and that is about it.

Facebook Love Story

This is so true.  I have totes done this before.  But I don't really use chat anymore because I just hate it when somebody I absolutely don't want to talk to gets one.  I try to ignore them, but they keep asking if I'm there, and then...they call!  But if every conversation was a love story, then I sure as hell would log back on.

Before Glee

The YellowJackets - You Belong With Me from Dan Petracca on Vimeo.

Oh My God!  I bout died when I saw this video for two reasons.  1.  It is so so so so so so so so cute.  I gave an audible scream at the end.  I was totes invested in the story.  And 2.  One of my friends from high school that I did choir with is in the YellowJackets.  They are an a cappella singing group at Rochester and they existed before Glee.  They sound great.  Loved it!

The Essence of Life

The Language of Water from John Grant on Vimeo.

Ooooooh.  Pretty Water!  This is a stop motion video of dye in water by John Grant.  I just figured it was a nice relaxing video.  I guess water is one of the things the gays didn't make that is beautiful.

Organza Orgasm

Who wouldn't love to have sheer fabric draped over their bodies and a wind fan blowing it like Beyonce's tracks?  I also wouldn't mind a vacation at that exotic black rock beach.  This band is called HURTS and they are from Great Britain.  I love me a good European import!
