Damn, that has got to hurt. If Irish Dance could ever be part of pop culture, this is it. And I think it has arrived. No longer will you see young girls in curly hair pieces with emerald green velvet dresses on and awful socks. Now you will see chic people, the way everything should be done, chicly. The two people performing are Suzanne Cleary and Pete Harding. Get this, they were in Riverdance together!

Bedtime Stories with Abraham Willosby from Joseph Bennett on Vimeo.
That there looks like a sugar daddy to me. One with men on segways and tigers, and did I mention men? This cartoon is done by a young man named Joseph Bennett. His work is quite odd, blunt, and hilarious, much like some of the flame dames in our lives. Hope you enjoy this quirky cartoon.

This is just sweet. Sweet like a sugar cookie. Sweet like a nice pair of pink shoes, or pink lace underwear, or anything pink...except pigs. They're not very sweet looking, unless they are one of those baby pot belly pigs that is the size of a gallon of milk. But all that is beside the point. This movie is so sweet.

Dance is something that I find to be very releasing. When I have a stressful day, I often put Celine Dion on, or maybe some Katy Perry, and I dance. Very poorly might I add, but it is pretty damn expressive. You should try it sometime. I recommend dancing to any of the performers from the Divas Live concert on VH1. They really make it happen

Maker Profile - Kinetic Wave Sculptures on MAKE: television from make magazine on Vimeo.
This is fascinating and lovely and entertaining. It makes me want to put on a pair of really tight, really short swimming trunks, probably navy blue: they would look best against my fair skin. And then I want a margarita and some clear Bahama water with those sting rays that don't sting swimming around me. If only. Instead, I will opt for a day dream. Anyway, this here is Reuben Margolin. He is a kinetic sculptor and pretty damn good at it. I found this video and had to share it immediately.

This is so true. I have totes done this before. But I don't really use chat anymore because I just hate it when somebody I absolutely don't want to talk to gets one. I try to ignore them, but they keep asking if I'm there, and then...they call! But if every conversation was a love story, then I sure as hell would log back on.

One of my friends from high school that I did choir with is in the YellowJackets. They are an a cappella singing group at Rochester and they existed before Glee. They sound great. Loved it!

Fantabulous from David Byrne on Vimeo.
There is one thing that unifies us all as humans: we all dance, or have danced, in our rooms. I have found myself dancing semi-choreographed numbers alone in my apartment while wearing heels and bikini briefs, and nothing else...except for the occasional wig...and/or dress. This short film captures my wildest dance fantasies perfectly. How amazing would it be if your own bedroom floor turned into a lit dance floor! The only thing better than that would be if there were half naked men dancing around you, or foam, or glitter, or all of the above. Well, I'm no off to dance to some gay anthems.

The Shag Tree from Nationella Hivrådet on Vimeo.
Yesterday, my straight friend and I were walking through the common area on our campus. We were approached by a young lady offering us free condoms. She thought we were a "we." As cute of a couple as we would make, he likes sports more than he likes Prada, oh and he likes girls. Anygay, I was glad to see someone passing out condoms. I think our generation is slowly forgetting about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that is killing so many in this world. I found the video above and thought it was a sexy, humorous, and scary reminder of how promiscuous people are and why you should "wrap it."

I swear on my glitter filled heart that she will be the next big pop star in this world. Her songs are so moving. And she can write a club hit too. She wrote "Party in the USA," which I have queened out to many times. Her lips sure do look fierce in the first video! Although they must make for one messy blow job. Enjoy these videos!

Think how much easier sex would be if you didn't have to take each others clothes off, they took themselves off! I chose this video for the last part with the champagne bottle, for obvious reasons. If you can't figure out why, just think of the champagne bottle as a penis. Enough said for that. This video is from one of my favorite visual artists, Lernert and Sander. They are the ones who made shoes out of dishwashers and other household appliances. Well this video will certainly help me get done cleaning my apartment, which I always do in a pair of heels. If its a good day, I might add a wig or a corset, but usually just heels and a vacuum. Ah the life of a queen.

Our country is at a turning point, and so is the world. I think its time the United States gets on board. We were once the most progressive and powerful country. Now we are behind. Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden all allow same-sex marriage, and many other countries legally recognize them. And damn, I've been dreaming about my gay wedding for years now. I want four tents, swans, lasers, glitter, and a list of fashionably dressed guests. Its about time I'm allowed that.

He makes it look as easy as a coked out twink. I never really thought of Bobby McFerrin as cool, talented, artistic, or old. But my mind is changed. Ever since I found this video, I have been looking at some of his newer stuff, and he writes some beautiful music. Music that I might make love to. I'd go straight for her...if straight consisted of picking out all of her clothes and not having sexual intercourse with her. I love love love this video! It is such an uplifting anthem! I kinda cried a little bit, and I definitely screamed when the two guys kissed, the same type of scream I use when Alabama gets a touchdown. I will say though, that the pregnant lady looks crazy with the fireworks coming out of her belly. It kind of reminds me of Saw, which is probs just the Halloween spirit still in me. I was driving the other night and "I'm Coming Out" came on the radio. Immediately I started tapping my fingers on the steering wheel and whipping my hair back and forth. Why is it that that song always comes on the "family" soft rock radio stations? Any-who, The song wanted me to dawn a rainbow feathered headpiece and hop in line at a gay pride parade. Then I realized that the first time I ever said I was gay out loud wasn't exactly an exciting occasion. I think its important that we all take time and say that we're gay with a little more excitement.

I found this movie on Homochic.com, one of my new favorite websites. I really enjoyed it 1. because it has men in it and 2. because it deals with a very interesting subject matter. It is called "A Valentine to Loneliness." It deals with the single gay world, which I find fascinating. I myself am part of the single gay world and I find it quite fun, but not for the same reasons others might. I enjoy the freedom and the fact that I am not tied down to another twink...or tied down by another twink. This movie deals with the group of single me who use websites such as manhunt and manroulette.
What has been so fascinating to me is that this act of having sex with somebody you don't even know has started to become a cultural norm in the gay world, or at least in the town I live in. And to be completely honest and personal, I don't get it. If I don't know you, I don't want your hands to be anywhere on my body, and certainly not your mouth. Do you even brush your teeth? floss? mouthwash? manscape? To me, it lessens the value of sex--which in my mind is the ultimate expression of love and not some feel good sensation--that's what your hand is for. I prefer to put on a pair of heels and dance around my apartment in underwear to Celine Dion, and maybe do a little vacuuming while I'm at it--but that may just be me, actually, that probably is just me.
However, when I was watching this movie, I understood it, kind of, for a brief moment. Not to say that I will start doing it, but it makes sense to me. And that is what art should do.

"My Name is Harvey Milk" Short Film, 2007 Dir by Leo Herrera from Leo Herrera on Vimeo.
"All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to acheive their full potential." -Harvey Milk
"Hope will never be silent." -Harvey Milk
This here is a haunting yet beautiful video of Harvey Milk's political will. What an amazing man he was. But what baffles my mind is that there are still equal rights issues going on in this country. Can we not set aside our differences and realize that we are all humans and deserve to be treated equally? How do we change this? We, the LGBT community seems to be looking for a leader, but I do not think that is where the solution lies. I believe it is in the individual, and the power of small acts to create a synergy of change. As Mother Teresa said, "Do not wait for a leader; do it alone, person to person."

Right now I am participating in a production of Henrik Ibsen's play An Enemy of the People here at the University of Alabama. This production is not quite the gay soiree you would expect to find me in. It is about a doctor, Dr. Stockmann, who discovers the water supply to his medical baths is poisoned and is putting its visitors in harms way (circa Erin Brockovich, but with a lot less cleavage and ankle). He lets the town know the problem and they turn on him labeling him as "An Enemy of the People."
This political play has much relevance to todays society even though it was written in 1882. Dr. Stockmann can easily be compared to a gay rights activist standing up for what he believes in--against the ideas of the majority. Whether you have seen this play or not, I encourage everyone to be Enemies of the People. Stand up for what you believe in and fight for it with every shard of glitter you own. Paddle turn those conservatives away, and make a difference! We are Human and we are Beautiful!
